Jean Kim is a Designer and Illustrator from Seoul, South Korea. Her signature style of using professional design software to layer traditional mediums and colors results in work filled with candor and emotion, which has strong appeal to consumers and readers of all ages. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, South Korea, and a Master’s degree in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Jean’s award-winning children’s book illustrations include “I Feel Bear Tired,” “Rabbit Moon,” and “The Lazy Raccoon Spies.” She has had her solo and group shows at the Gana Art Space in Korea, the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, the Trickster Gallery, in Berkeley, the Oakland Museum of California, the Annual Winter Conference Portfolio Showcase of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and at the 6th International Cartoon Competition in Berlin. Her illustrations also appeared in Spectrum fantastic art 22 Annual, and 3×3 Magazine of Contemporary Illustration Annual. No.12. Jean has book deals with Arthur A. Levine Books, and HarperCollins. She has created illustrations and designs for numerous high-profile clients such as children’s magazine publisher Cricket Media, game developer and publishing company THQ, pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Korea, Korean text book publisher Doosan DongA, popular fashion app Style Puzzle, and SK Marketing for whom she provided an exclusive series of hand-painted designs and currently applies her expertise as an Illustrator and Designer to a number of companies in the greater Bay Area and beyond.
