As a leading musician and songwriter from New Zealand, Chelsea Jade Metcalf has composed, recorded, and performed her ethereal, electronic pop tracks across the globe. As one of the main creative forces behind the critically acclaimed band Teacups, Chelsea was integral to the creation of the band’s beautiful, 2009 album “Forest Fiction.” Chelsea’s solo project Watercolours, was widely hailed by international critics after the release of the single “Night Swimmer,” through Universal Music NZ in 2011. Watercolours has collaborated extensively with Boycrush, producing multiple albums, including a transparent vinyl release on New Zealand’s legendary Flying Nun Records, and opening for international stars such as Cat Power, Bloc Party, Dirty Projectors, and Slow Club. Chelsea has opened for multi-Grammy Award winner Lorde, and contributed vocals to the critically lauded 2013 album “Time Stays, We Go,” by The Veils. In 2014, Chelsea represented New Zealand at the CMJ industry showcase in New York City, where her performances were covered by industry publications such as Noisey of the Vice digital network. Thus far in 2015, Chelsea has released a pop single entitled “Low Brow,” been featured on international media outlets such as Hilly Dilly, and Remix magazine, and provided lyrics and vocal melodies for the forthcoming releases of international DJ duo MayaVanya. Chelsea is now based in the United States where she continues to make important contributions to the pop music scene.
